As the company’s first-ever SUV, the DBX is a whole new platform for Aston Martin’s Q by Aston Martin vision. The debut Q by Aston Martin DBX explores the car’s potential, drawing inspiration from the car’s rugged, sporting good looks and creating a darker, moodier image. Like all Aston Martin production cars, DBX can be enhanced with three levels of Q by Aston Martin — Commission, Collection and Accessories.
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Aston Martin Lagonda has overseen the application of both Q by Aston Martin-Commission and Q by Aston Martin-Collection elements into this unique DBX. These accentuate the car’s fastback appearance, maintaining the low stance and sporting proportions created by the long wheelbase and low, sleek roofline. The 22in gloss black painted wheels, which complement the curve of the glasshouse and deep sculptural scoop in the DBX’s flanks, help create a set of dramatic graphic elements. Rich Satin Xenon Grey paint, meanwhile, together with a carbon fibre lower exterior pack and black anodised tread and sill plaques, enhance the DBX’s darker image.
Inside, the bespoke diamond-patterned satin chrome aluminium jewellery pack is set alongside Obsidian Black leather trim. There’s also a special machined carbon fibre finish, polished from 280 individual layers of the material and applied to the central console and door inserts, with additional carbon fibre elements in the expansive storage area. Reichman and his team have developed the enhancements in house, exploring a leaner, more aggressively sporting appearance for DBX.
“Q by Aston Martin offers the tools to those who have an uninhibited desire to push the boundaries of what is achievable,” says Reichman. “This DBX illustrates just one of many spheres of inspiration that can be explored. The car provides the ultimate canvas to bring a vision to life, and I fully expect to see a wide and broad variety of creations over the coming months”.
