This year marked the thrilling debut of Aston Martin’s new driving experience, the AMR Drivers’ Club. This carefully tailored programme of events has taken customers to a number of Europe’s most iconic and challenging race circuits. “We offer a series of exclusive Aston Martin on-track events,” says Alastair McColl, Manager - Driving Experiences at Aston Martin Lagonda. “The AMR Drivers’ Club provides the opportunity for guests to experience the thrill and performance of an Aston Martin on track, while developing their driving skills through structured courses and coaching.” The initiative is designed to go beyond Aston Martin’s existing series of introductory events at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedford. “This new programme is all about building confidence on the track,” McColl explains.
The seven-event series began at Portimão in Portugal, at the Autódromo do Algarve. It was followed by an event at Zandvoort Circuit in Holland, venue for the 2020 Dutch Grand Prix, then the legendary Nürburgring in Germany and the two historic British tracks at Brands Hatch and Silverstone, as well as the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and finally the sweeping Dijon-Prenois circuit in France. “These are all iconic circuits with great histories and they’re well placed around Europe,” says McColl. “At each event we bring a fleet of five standard Aston Martin Vantages and we can supplement these with cars from each region. For example, at Silverstone we also had a DB11 and an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.”
AMR Drivers’ Club is structured in three tiers, starting with the half day “Discovery” course that gives drivers a taste of how an Aston Martin Vantage feels on the track. They can bring their own car for the full-day “Performance” course, with the option of an enhanced “Performance Plus” experience that provides the guest with a dedicated driver coach for one-to-one in-car coaching. “Our team of driver coaches all have numerous years of racing experience. They can offer the appropriate level of tuition depending on the customer level of experience, from beginner through to an experienced track day driver,” says McColl. “A couple of the driver coaches — Charlie Eastwood and Andrew Watson — are AMR young drivers as well.” This expertise is on hand for AMR Drivers’ Club attendees. “It’s a really nice link — they’re racing Aston Martins at the weekend and then coaching customers on the track.”
For 2019, one of the highlights has been the close collaboration with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. At Nürburgring, guests were excited to be joined by Aston Martin Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen. “Max provided all guests with a thrilling hot lap of the circuit — a unique and unforgettable experience,” says McColl. “We were also delighted to be joined by Alex Albon at Silverstone, who provided hot laps for guests days after competing in the Belgian Grand Prix.”
The AMR Academy is split across three progressive courses and designed to take the track driving capabilities of its customers to the next level. Including an intensive theory course, overnight hospitality and a full day of driving, this is the ultimate way of immersing oneself in the world of Aston Martin performance.

Although driver training is at the heart of the experience, McColl emphasises that this it is also a genuine club for those who share a passion for Aston Martin and experiencing our performance cars on track. “For our customers, the AMR Drivers’ Club is about building a community.”
