When Aston Martin announced in August 2018 that it intended to recreate James Bond’s Goldfinger DB5 it caused something of a stir, especially when it was revealed that the cars would come with a fully functioning suite of gadgets. Fans will no doubt recall the impressive specification installed by Q, but how faithful to the film the Goldfinger DB5 Continuation cars will be is — at the moment — strictly for official eyes only. What can be revealed is that the 25 cars will each be hand built at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, the oldest purpose-built car factory in Europe. Aston Martin Works houses 125 employees and 10 apprentices who between them cover every skill and craft needed to build the DB5: panel-work, painting, parts manufacture, interior trim — quite literally, the works.

Manufacture of the DB4 GT Continuation will soon shift to the Goldfinger DB5s, initiating this skilled team of craftspeople into the secrets of this iconic car.
