Combining digital art with physical display, Knightsbridge’s recently opened gallery space The ARX offers an entirely new approach to art for both appreciators and collectors alike.

The ARX displays NFTs – Non-Fungible Tokens – a unique digital commodity that allows virtual art to be purchased as one-of-a-kind pieces. Currently making headlines all over the world as the next big thing in tech, NFTs mark the art sector’s latest expansion into the digital sphere. It’s not just emerging or underground artists getting in on the act either – Damien Hirst recently launched a $25 million project, ‘The Currency’, which asks buyers to choose between physical art formats and NFTs. What’s more, back in March, an NFT by digital artist Beeple sold for a staggering $69 million at Christie’s, placing him among the top three most valuable living artists.

The ARX displays an ever-changing rotation of NFTs on its 8K Samsung TV wall, reproducing digital art with the ultra-high resolution of photographic prints. Additionally, its spacious white walls play host to physical art by contemporary artists, including large-scale photo collages by Peter Beard and iconic Banksy screen prints.

The gallery also hosts solo and collaborative exhibitions by emerging and established contemporary artists, such as KAWS, Damien Hirst, Harland Miller, Bisco Smith, Louis Carreon and Steven Parrino. Artworks are showcased across four floors – amounting to 15,000 square feet – in the luxurious Smallbone Luxury Pavilion in Knightsbridge. With bespoke architectural design and cutting-edge technology, the physical and virtual realms come together seamlessly to form a unique space.

Matthew Lord – previously a finance and art investment consultant, now The ARX’s Managing Partner – is the lead curator behind the gallery’s exceptional collection. He said: “I handpicked only a select few artists to join our debut roster because we wanted to ensure the calibre was extremely high. Being able to offer a platform to the rising stars of the art world and exhibit them alongside world-renowned artists is really exciting.”

With a slew of exciting exhibitions, collaborations and projects planned for 2022 – not to mention a Stateside expansion – The ARX is a name well worth keeping an eye on.

The ARX is now open at the Smallbone Luxury Pavilion, Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, thearx.com
